Declan Cade Flynn

Posted on August 11, 2009

My wife went into labor Saturday night at 12:30am and I got the call as I was finishing up a wedding in Napa. The airports were closed and I was a 9hr drive away. I almost borrowed a car but figured that would be too dangerous after realizing how tired I already was. I ended up catching an early flight and making it to the birth in time. Lindsay was in labor for 17 hours!! One of the most amazing, incredible experiences I’ve been through. Straight after the birth, the doctor put baby Declan right on mom’s chest. Lindsay and I caught eyes and at the same time, tears started flowing. Such a special moment. We’re finally home and I now have internet to post. I know Lindsay’s family back in Colorado is dying to see some of these shots.

I literally started crying as I went back through these photos. He is so stinking cute!!!

I shot this photo this morning. He just got done feeding and was sitting up leaning into my hand with his little arms around my wrist. It was the sweetest moment and had to snap a photo!

I love this shot. This was as the nurse measured Declan’s length. He was exactly 20 inches!

Our friend Andrea grabbed my camera and snapped some great photos of the actual delivery since I was an active participant. This was the moment Declan was first put on Mom’s chest and I shot a few on film with my Mamiya.

This was literally straight from birth, then mom’s chest to get wiped down and weighed. It already feels like he’s changed so much.

And a shot with Declan and my two brothers!! LOVE this one.

Nixon Hawke Sikes ::: Congrats Gary & Jana!

Posted on August 1, 2009

Good friends of ours, Gary and Jana Sikes, had their baby earlier this week. His name, Nixon Hawke Sikes. Nixon is one of the cutest little babies I have seen. Straight out of the woom, he’s already smiling and so alert. What makes this even more fun for Lindsay and I is that we’re due in two weeks and could literally have our baby any day now. It brought tears to my eyes seeing little Nixon realizing, ‘Oh my gosh. I’m going to have one of these REALLY soon!’ I’m sooo excited. Gary and Jana, we love you and are looking forward to raising our boys together!!

The Powells

Posted on November 30, 2008

Just before Thanksgiving, Lindsay and I were able to spend some time with the Powells and document their family life. They have such a fun house for kids to grow up in. Recently, on November 15th, the family received a new addtion: Penelope Olive, a cute little girl. Here are some photos we captured:

A little tuckered out after about 30 minutes of bed jumping.

They had two sweet horses in their backyard. After we left, Lindsay asked me if I’d buy her a pony. I told her I’d think about it.

Kari Me Away ::: Kids Clothing

Posted on November 28, 2008

The team over at Skylab Media Group have been working on the rebranding of a great clothing line for kids and I was hired to do the photography for the website and product. The clothing line is called Kari Me Away. The clothes themselves have a vintage, Southern feel and are extremely cute. The unique thing about this line is that you purchase the patterns and materials, and then sew the outfit together yourself! I’ll let you know when the new site is up so you can order some clothes for your kids. Here are some photos from the day:

Baby MacKenzie

Posted on October 28, 2008

Little MacKenzie is the cutest thing. Her parents are madly in love with their first child and it was so fun shooting some portraits with them. Babies are so different to shoot than kids or adults. You just plop them places and they sit wherever you put them. They become a little prop in whatever setting you place them. We had some great props for this shoot. Here are some photos:

Dad said he wanted to be the first guy to ever buy his little girl a diamond. So he did….So sweet.

The Sweet Grandkids!

Posted on May 9, 2008

For Mother’s Day coming up, my favorite Aunt Kim had me photograph her grandkids for their mothers. We went to a local park in Santa Ana and I followed them around documenting them interacting. They are a tight crew, looking out for one another, holding hands and laughing the whole time. It was so fun and I came away with some cute photos. Here they are:
