Holly + Ryan :: A Smog Shoppe Wedding
Posted on September 1, 2010 | Posted in: Wedding Blogs, Wedding Photography, Weddings
Weddings at the Smog Shoppe are some of my favorite. The venue has so much character that adds to every photo. Then when I get to shoot a good looking, elegant and fun couple, teamed up with one of the best coordinators in the biz – Angel from Love and Splendor, the wedding is going to be amazing! This is what happened with Ryan and Holly’s wedding. One of my favorite wedding blogs, Green Wedding Shoes has this wedding featured now and make sure to check it out to see more photos. I decided to put together a little different selection of photos.
For starters, Holly designed her own dress from the dress worn by her grandmother, then mother. It was such a unique wedding dress that fit her so perfectly.
Quote from Holly “My favorite memory of the day was when I was walking down the aisle, heart racing, and my dad whispered in my ear, “look at ryan.” As soon as I saw my husband to be I felt a clam peace rush over me.”
Another great thing about this wedding was that the Smog Shoppe had just opened their new ceremony area and this was the first wedding held there. So glad they now have this area. It is such a compliment to the reception site.
I absolutely love it when brides encourage their bridesmaids to all get different dresses and shoes. Pick a color or pick a tone and let the girls go with it. So stylish!
Angel did a spectacular job with taking Holly’s vision and bringing to life. The details were stellar.
Favorite Moment from Holly:
Towards the end f the night when I was tired from dancing, I grabbed my dad and some water and we sat one of the couches and watched the guests enjoying the wedding. It felt so good to relax and take in the party as if I were a guest.

Holly + Ryan Sneak Peek!!
Posted on August 30, 2010 | Posted in: Weddings
This is a wedding that was one I have been so excited to post and am just giving you a sneak peek. You need to head over to GreenWeddingShoes.com to see more. It is one of my favorite wedding blogs and I’m honored to have one of my weddings featured there. I’ll be posting more by Wednesday so make sure to keep checking back but for now, here’s a good look at this stunning couple! The wedding was held at the Smog Shoppe in Los Angeles. It’s an amazing venue if you haven’t seen it before.
Piper Marie
Now here is an absolutely beautiful baby girl. Little piper is absolutely stunning with that dark head of hair. If you didn’t see it, make sure you check out the maternity session I shot of Rachelle and Michael before they had Piper. Such a fun couple and I was so honored to photograph them and their baby. Definitely girlfriend potential for little Declan!!
Kelly + Jimmy ::: A Montage Wedding
Posted on August 24, 2010 | Posted in: Weddings
I have been so fortunate and blessed to end up with the most amazing couples who book me to document their wedding. This year has already been incredible for me and it makes my job fun verses all work. Kelly and Jimmy are one of those couples anyone would be lucky to be friends with. I love shooting engagement sessions because I get to know them so much better before their actual wedding day. I show up and we already have a good relationship, I’m excited to see them, and they’re excited to see me. Photos are a breeze because they’ve already spent some time with me shooting them and they’re that much more relaxed in front of the camera.
Kelly and Jimmy are so much fun. Jimmy is from the UK and a group of his friends and family came out for the celebration. The Montage is a stunning place for a wedding. Overlooking the ocean, beautiful landscape, and great ballroom. Details Details did all of the coordinating of the wedding and they are one of the best teams to work with. Elysium Productions was also there to video the wedding. Amazing job by everyone and it was a really fun wedding to be a part of!

So funny story about this photo, I actually chased down and caught this bunny. It was wild..not a staged prop. I think Alex from Elysium caught it on video. Probably once was a pet that ran away but made for a great photo!!
And here is a little pre-reception change! New hair style, new shoes, and a shortened wedding dress! Love it.
Look at the gorgeous reception put together by the talented Details Details team! In those martini glasses are either garlic mashed potatoes or mashed sweet potatoes. They just look that much more tasty with this presentation!

Connie + Thomas :: Married at Rancho Las Lomas
Posted on August 20, 2010 | Posted in: Wedding Photography, Weddings
Here is a wedding I’ve been waiting to blog for awhile! Rancho Las Lomas is an incredible venue in Orange County. It has white tigers, parrots, lamas, zebra, a variety of options for photos and makes for a beautiful wedding. Connie and Thomas’ wedding was beautiful. I actually met Connie while I was on a date with my wife in Laguna beach. We started chatting and it ended up that she still hadn’t found a photographer she liked. It was a fun coincidence.
Both Connie and Thomas had smiles on their faces all day. So fun to have met them and I was honored to photograph their wedding!

Declan’s 1st Birthday Party
Last week, we threw a 1st birthday party for Declan. At first, I was thinking birthday parties for kids that young were sort of pointless but as Lindsay and I were talking, we realized how it’s OK that the party is for us and our baby. Having a baby is an amazing thing and we get to celebrate with people in our lives and his, the first year of his life. Great reason to celebrate!
We had the absolute fortune of working with Society Picnic and they designed our whole house for his party. Declan spent most of his first year in either striped pajamas or striped shirts so we thought a striped theme would be appropriate. Ann and Sarah from Society Picnic ran with the idea and came up with some sheer brilliance. If you ever need a party of any sort planned…like bridal showers, baby showers, Bday parties…look them up!
Here’s what they came up with:
We had some tasty cupcakes and cake-pops from My Sweet and Saucy! So yummy!!
And here’s the birthday boy getting his first experience of eating cake. So funny. He was a little hesitant at first with a crowd of people around him.
Mom wanted to get in on the action. And the second shot, Declan would grab a handful of cake and hand it to Grandpa. He LOVES his grandparents!

Film is Not Dead
Posted on August 11, 2010 | Posted in: Engagement, Personal
I was fortunate enough to get to participate in a workshop put on by the amazing Jonathan Canlas who is a wealth of knowledge. If you’ve ever considered taking a workshop and especially if you have an interest in shooting film vs digital, this is the workshop for you. Lindsay and I were going to model for the workshop on the 3rd day but a space opened up last minute and Jonathan invited me for the whole workshop. It was awesome and I’m grateful.
The first part of the day was lecture and the second half of the day was shooting couples and trying out different films. Here are some of my faves from one of the days. I didn’t edit any of this at all. Straight out of the camera and back from Richard Photo Lab.
